Recently a green laser was introduced to the laser sight family.

Red light waves range from 620 to 750 nanometers and green light ranges from 495 to 570 nanometers. The eye s frequency response is bell curve shaped with the highest point of the curve being in the green while the red lies on the right end of the bell curve. Green is close to the center of the visible light spectrum at about 532 nanometers. Not sure it makes that much difference in laser sights.

Red is higher on the spectrum at 635 nanometers. Green can be used inside or out but green is much more visible outside and can be used to engage targets in similar circumstances. You will have a much easier time seeing a green laser in broad daylight than red. From the target s point of view having a red laser dot on your chest is very impactful.

Different wavelengths in the visible spectrum produce different colors.
